What do you listen (if anything) while programming?

Personally I tend to go to nordic (German, Scandinavian) heavy/power metal bands such as Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Sonata Artica; 80s/70s/60s rock songs; or epic music.

At the moment I'm listening to this one (6 hours worth of music ^^ good enough to last me all the day)

You're one of those "I can listen to metal and still program normally"-guys, aren't you?

Seriously never understood how anyone can program with aggressive / emotional / lyrics / non-calm music, but I know a lot of people who actually can.

I usually prefer something like this:

If anything, really. Music often diverts part of my focus - don't know why this happens for me but not for others. :eh: On the plus side, doing art- and gamedesign-stuff and music is great.

people++; :mrgreen:

In fact, I find myself typing with the music tempo, so the faster the music, the faster I can actually code ^^ (and usually I don't make too many syntax errors so, it's quite neat)
I guess I've always been used to doing stuff while having something in my ears. I remember I could never study without the radio or the tv turned on in the background..

Once I programmed while listening to dubstep. It made me chill. But now I find myself listening to the bands I like: Metallica, Linkin Park, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin.

If you're looking for a good chillstep, I could recommend Elements by Lindsey Stirling. Good song.

I don't have any specific genres to listen to, and I'm not much of a listener, but I occasionally listen to whatever good stuff I get my hands on. I do have some sources, though.

One good site is OCReMix http://ocremix.org/, they have a very good collection of game soundtrack remixes/arrangements (and others? I'm not sure). They've got single tracks as well as albums.

I've also got one song from Grand Theft Auto V, the theme song, which I listen to quite frequently. It's called "Welcome to Los Santos", the original no-vocals version.

Here's some of my personal favourites from OCReMix:
Deus Ex - Sonic Augmentation Rearrangement Album: http://ocremix.org/album/44/deus-ex-sonic-augmentation
Dovahkiin - The Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim Remix: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02323

Music distracts me completely. I just can't properly write a line of code listening to music (especially Heavy Metal :wtf:). I usually go there: http://www.rainymood.com/

And done. :P

In that case, might I suggest MyNoise

There are a lot of soundscapes.. I sometimes use them when I am tired of listening to music, or I feel a headache mounting and I need to relax.

I personally suggest White Rain, Cat Purr, or the combo Absolute Rain + Distant Thunder.

Give it a try ^^

BABYMETAL is what you need to program with. Or honestly just sitting in a quiet room with lock doors and the sound of typing is always great too.
