Hey!
Just some ideas to have a thing or two in this topic. In this semester, I'm writing my thesis thus I should not start any major project, but these may inspire others. Also an interesting topic to conversate about imo :)

  • Dialog plugin And oldschool looking dialog system. Consisting of a Component which determines the interface to triggering the dialog, the behavior (e.g. pause the game or not, etc...) of the appearing dialog, the style of it (sprites, avatar thumbnails...), where the text bubbles appear in the game world, and a custom DialogResource. This custom resource would hold the text information of the dialog (the dialog text itself and the names of the participants). The resource would be some sort of readable text format (YAML?), or the plugin had an editor part capable of editing these resources.

  • 3D mesh importer and renderer 3D graphics commonly appear in games with 2D game logic. The plugin enabled that in Duality. I'm sure there are already open source solutions to read common 3d formats, such as wavefront, and this plugin shouldn't reinvent the wheel on that field. Basically a new Mesh resource and a MeshRenderer Component would do it.
  • Collection of character controllers More specifically: player movement controllers. This belongs to the "essentials" series. Just like the CameraSample package, which I use in the majority of my Duality projects, this would be a great help at quick prototyping. At first, I thought of:
    Platformer controller (side view)
    Top-down controller (...)
    MOBA style movement -> character goes to click position. May contain pathfinding.

Of course, not much work put into these designs...do you think they are feasible? Any other ideas?

Your ideas sounds good!

I made some toughs about an UI-Plugin:

UI-Plugin
- XML-Based Layout
- A single Component (Canvas) for rendering the controls
- Layout is stored in a resource-file
- In-Editor Layout editing with a Text-Editor (ScintillaNET)
- Live-Preview of the changes

I am exactly planning on doing something along these lines, actually.
Looking at other frameworks, they seldom have helper functions, like LookAt, GoTo, MoveTowards, etc...

2D Bone animation importer.

An simple and easy importer for 2D bone animation tools, like Spine, Spriter or my favorite: BoneDragon (Tottaly FREE).

What about a tile-engine plugin? A built-in tile editor, with support for custom tiles? Does that already exist?
