Why don't you move this to the Projects section? :p

I probably will, however I would love to share the websocket code. I might get slightly further along and submit this as a tutorial so others can benefit. If someone wanted to make it peer to peer instead of server centric, that's a pretty easy change as well.

Hey All,

Loooong time no update!

I've recently restarted working on this idea. I've cut the WCF part out and am looking at doing this via websockets. I've got a client/server running outside of Duality currently with WebSocketSharp and reactive extensions on the client and server, which is really neat.

More to follow!

Out of curiosity, why did you choose websockets over "regular" sockets?

TBH I found better documentation, easier on using RX on WebSockets via WebSocketSharp. I'll interface this service so I can easily change it to a plain socket later.

Cloud provided services like Azure WebApps can't really handle arbitrary sockets easily (IIS) but can do WebSockets. I'm leaning towards using WebRoles instead for my server instances so this argument doesn't hold up much longer.

Portability to browser apps. I can write simple Angular apps that could technically interface with the game server. This could also be done with socket.io angular libraries.

Its all up in the air at this point!
