I tried to do the getting-started-project, but my spaceship is not moving. I copied the code from the official page, and Visual Studio is not showing any errors. Is the code on the website outdated or have I made a mistake?

PS: I'll post my code later if needed.

Hey there!

A few questions:

  1. Did you compile the code in Visual Studio?
  2. Did you add the component with the movement code to your space ship?
  3. Are there any errors or warnings in the Duality console / log?
  4. Did you enter sandbox mode in Duality?
  5. Did you select (and click into / focus!) the Game View before using keyboard input?

Thanks to your answer, I identified the original problem. But now, there are two new problems:
1. Visual studio somehow refuses to open the projectPlugins.sln file, when clicking on the c# button. (Instead, it shows a window where I should select a program to open the file, which is empty)
2. Duality does not react to a right-click on the spaceship.

Thanks in advance,
Mr_SoUndso

Not sure why that would happen, but you can always select VS manually. Should be a devenv.exe somewhere on your machine, Google probably knows the specifics ^^

Why would that be a problem? Or, put differently: Where exactly are you doing the right-click (Camera View? Scene View?), and what would you expect to happen when right-clicking on the spaceship?

The tutorial says:
Quote:
Now right-click on the player ship Gameobject in the Scene View and select New / YourFirstProject / Player. Enter the Sandbox mode. Fly using the arrow keys.
I tried to do that to bind my code to the Spaceship, but it doesn't work.

The problem is, that it displays an empty window: nothing to select, and if I try to click "ok" nothing happens. (It's not the default windows 10 select program screen, it's something from visual studio).

This doesn't seem to be a Duality related problem, not sure what's going on there. You should still be able to manually select the program to open the .sln file with by right-clicking and selecting "Open With..." though.

Are you sure you right-clicked in the Scene View (the one with the object hierarchy), and not the Camera View? Are you seeing any errors in the log?

I'm going to re-install Visual Studio, maybe that helps...
I'm pretty sure that I clicked on the right window, but thanks anyway :)
